Bottled Waters
Adam’s Ale (as water used to be known) is now a very common accompaniment to a meal as its consumption assists the digestion of food and the body’s reaction to alcohol. Thirty years ago, it was very rare indeed to see water served unless it had been specially asked for by the customer. Then a jug of tap water would appear with the occasional slice of lemon. We sneered at our French cousins with their obsession for Badoit, Evian or Perrier. But as with so many matters gastronomic, they lead, we follow and sometimes surpass La Belle France. Our local waters have become National and the differences are sometimes the subject of heated discussion. Our selection, we hope, offers you plenty of choice without being too ostentatious.
