Argentinian Wines

Argentina is now one of the fastest growing wine markets in the U.K. Although currently still relatively small in volumes, there is no doubt that there is increasing interest by UK customers. Such is foreign belief in the potential of this country for wine that even Chilean wineries are investing in Mendoza vineyards. Why? Simply there are exceptional natural climatic conditions and geography. The warmer and best known regions, especially Mendoza, are ideal whilst in the North in Salta and Catamarca are the highest commercial vineyards in the world. At nearly 6,000 feet above sea level, the winemaker can generally combine the advantages of a cool but dependable climate and lower yields to produce concentrated but refreshing wines. Another advantage is value - the various financial crises suffered by Argentina have resulted in the currency being weak against the pound. Accordingly, prices have been extremely attractive.
